Sculpture, Wildlife Art

Athough Peggy Campbell currently lives in Colorado she was born and raised in Fort Worth, Texas. Campbell was fortunate to be exposed during her formative years to numerous classes taught at the Fort Worth Art Center. Among these teachers was Evaline Sellors, well-known European trained sculptor out of the Fort Worth Circle. During her college years as a Commercial Art major she continued her love of sculpture under Dr. William Casey at Texas Woman’s University.

The wide-open spaces of Colorado allow Peggy and her family to live the lifestyle that supplies the research and demands of a sculptor. Campbell chose wildlife because of her love of animals and representational art in bronze as her medium because of her earlier influences in Texas. She works as a Division of Wildlife volunteer not only to give back to the community but also to get a hands on experience with the many animals she is exposed to during this process. Quite often her experiences develop into a piece of sculpture.

Campbell has continued to educate herself toward the developing changes in sculpture techniques and materials. As in everything, sculpture is an ongoing, continual learning process with both the animals or the process itself. She works with a number of visual aids, sketching during observation, photos, videos, and many books.
